Protect, Prevent, Empower
Ending AIDS Among Children, Adolescents and Young People. This year's theme reflects Kenya's commitment to protecting the health, wellbeing and future of its children and young people. It aligns with the pillars of the Global Alliance to end AIDS among children, adolescents and young people.
Protect
Close the treatment gap by ensuring early identification, timely linkage to care, and sustained treatment support for pregnant and breastfeeding adolescent girls and women living with HIV, to eliminate vertical transmission and protect every child from HIV.
Prevent
Accelerate efforts to reduce new HIV infections among mothers, children, adolescents and young people through strengthened prevention, testing, linkage services, and access to comprehensive combination prevention interventions.
Empower
Equip children, adolescents and young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed health choices through equitable access to quality, youth-friendly HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services.
Why Children, Adolescents and Young People?
Kenya has cut new HIV infections by more than half since 2021. But children and young people still account for most new infections, and children are dying at more than twice the rate of adults.

βChildren continue to experience the slowest decline in new HIV infections.β

Kenya has the data, the frameworks, and the capacity. A child born HIV-positive today is not facing a biological certainty, but a set of gaps which we have both the tools and the responsibility to close.
World AIDS Day 2026 provides an opportunity to close them. #OneRace #OneGoal
